Ruler rome (a paganist system) allowed and enhanced the temple as a place of worship forcing their law to influence the temple (non-christian worshipers.) The later occupied hostility between non-christians and rome yet non-christians accepted rome's allowance and enhancement of the temple for worship. The lukewarm relationship between rome and non-christians was a divine - of God (of God identified as against non-christians and rome's carnal wills) distraction that blessed christians with less hostility (rest) from non-christians hostility. God opened a season of opportunity for christians and christians took it.
